Beware of fraudulent sales practices at the
Mayan Palace in Mexico!!!!!!!!
We were on vacation in Nuevo Vallarta from January 17 to January 31, 2003. We attended a timeshare presentation on January 19 at the Mayan Palace in Puerto Vallarta.
Jody Roberts and her sales manager, Brian Ehman, grossly misrepresented the facts when they sold us an "investment timeshare package" for $129,900! They said the weeks could be rented with no problem and proved it to us because they rented all 8 weeks for us while we were sitting in the closing room. We were dumb enough to believe them. We found out later that this was a lie but just a sales ploy to make us decide to buy as we had been there for hours! Since we traded in two other timeshares, they made us sign a waiver that we had given up our 5 day right of cancellation. This is against the law in Mexico we just recently found out. They did not give us a copy of the 5 day right of cancellation form nor a copy of the waiver. This is illegal too. We received copies of everything else.
They recommended Global Resort Services to rent our weeks for us. They recommended Laurie Stevens in particular as she is renting their weeks for them successfully. Do not deal with Laurie as she will tell you that renting is no problem. From our experience, it is very difficult to rent weeks at the Mayan Palace. If Laurie or any Global Resort Services sales person tells you that, make sure it is in writing and that you have a copy too!!!!!! Read our experience here with this company.
